Mechanical Engineering & Structures

Mechanical Engineering and Structures

Over 10 years engineering the physical world. From calculating large concrete and steel structures under international standards (Eurocodes/ASCE), to precision industrial machinery design and innovative photovoltaic solutions.

Our Specialties

Solar Structures for Walkable Roofs

In the boom of collective self-consumption, the challenge is not electrical, it is structural. Residential flat roofs pose waterproofing and wind load challenges that standard installations cannot resolve.

Our Innovation: Non-Penetrating Structures

We have developed a structural engineering system specifically for residential communities:

  • Parapet & Wall Anchoring: We avoid anchoring to the roof floor.
  • Zero Leaks: By not piercing the deck, we guarantee the integrity of the asphalt waterproofing
  • Wind Safety: Unlike ballasted systems (weights), our anchored structures withstand extreme wind loads, validated by FEM.

We design the structure so your solar installation is safe, legal, and durable.

Steel & Aluminum Calculation

We develop metal structure projects for building and industry. Our strength lies in code compliance and weight optimization (cost savings) without compromising safety.

Standards we apply:

  • CTE (Spanish Technical Building Code)
  • Eurocodes (Europe)
  • ASCE SEI 7 (American Standard)

We design everything from large-span industrial warehouses to complex space frames, ensuring seismic resistance and assembly speed.

Civil Works & Building

Reinforced concrete is the foundation of industry. We develop detail engineering for foundations, building structures, and industrial supports.

Our approach combines traditional calculation with advanced software to optimize steel and concrete ratios, delivering execution drawings ready for construction.

Strict compliance with:

  • EHE-08 / Structural Code (Concrete Instruction)
  • NCSE-02 (Seismic Standard)

Machine Design & CE Marking

We cover your product’s full lifecycle. At Atreydes, we don’t just draft; we integrate kinematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems to create efficient and safe machines.

  • Multidisplinary Design: Integration of motors, transmissions, linear actuators, and sensors.
  • Technical Documentation: Calculation reports, user manuals, and technical files for CE Marking.
  • Validation: Finite Element Analysis (FEM) to guarantee the durability of critical components.

Conversion Engineering: Imperial to Metric Fasteners (DIN/ISO)

Reliance on machinery manufactured under Anglo-Saxon standards (USA or UK) poses a logistical risk for European industry. Sourcing UNC, UNF, or BSW fasteners in Spain involves high import costs and lead times that can paralyze production.

At Atreydes Engineering, we offer a Transition Engineering service. We do not just look for a similar part; we perform structural calculations to replace your imperial fasteners with metric equivalents (DIN/ISO), guaranteeing the same safety and functionality.

What does the service include?

  • Dimensional Analysis: Study of tolerances to determine if direct replacement is possible or if machining (re-tapping) is required.
  • Material Equivalence: We certify which DIN steel class (e.g., 8.8, 10.9) withstands the same loads as the original SAE grade (Grade 5, Grade 8).
  • Protection and Finishes: Selection of coatings to prevent galvanic corrosion in the new joint.

Key Benefit:
By standardizing your machinery to metric, you will be able to purchase spare parts at any local industrial hardware supplier, reducing maintenance costs by up to 70% and eliminating waiting times.

Frequently Asked Questions about Conversion

Can I thread a metric bolt into an imperial hole if the size is similar?
No. Never. Although diameters like 3/8" (9.52mm) and M10 (10mm) seem similar, the thread pitch (distance between threads) and flank angle are different. Attempting to force it will destroy the internal thread. Our service determines if both nut and bolt need changing simultaneously or if machining the housing is required.
What metric strength is equivalent to an SAE Grade 5 or Grade 8 bolt?
Safety equivalence is determined by comparing Yield Strength and Tensile Strength. Thus, SAE Grade 5 is usually replaced by Class 8.8 (Quenched and Tempered) and SAE Grade 8 requires Class 10.9 or higher (High Strength Alloy Steel). In our report, we certify the exact class to avoid failure due to fatigue or shearing.
Is it legal to modify the fasteners of a CE-marked machine?
Yes, provided the replacement is made with a component of equal or superior mechanical characteristics and is documented in the maintenance file. Our technical study serves as engineering backing to validate the change without losing compliance.
What happens with maintenance tools?
This is one of the greatest operational benefits. By switching to DIN standards, your team can use standard metric wrenches, eliminating the need to maintain duplicate tools (inch and millimeter sets) for a single machine.
